I like to send out brochures showing the packages I have to my potential wedding clients.  I always thought they were informative but, frankly, they were dull.  

So I contacted Tracey Jolie and she has created an amazing design for me.  I have just taken delivery of the first of these - so, anyone interested in having me photograph their wedding will get these new booklets!

Remember a few weeks ago I did a shoot for a local dance school - well here's their advert all made up for the local paper.

Well, it's came around again - it's Christmas.

Everyone have a lovely Christmas, and I'll post more on the other side.

Last night saw me taking some promotional images of a local dance group.

Never had to do as many people as this (and we were 3 short) outside of a wedding and it was nerve racking for me.

Any print or album orders placed by the 11th December will be ready in time for Christmas - after this date orders will be fulfilled as quickly as they can, but we can't promise they will be ready this year.

The second shoot of today was with the lovely Marianne Mills.  Marianne is an student and actress.  Another enjoyable shoot, and it got better afterwards with news Marianne got a part in an advert.  Really pleased about that!

Today I had the pleasure of shooting the lovely Sarah-May.  She's an actress from Glasgow and we were doing some new head-shots for her.

We did deviate slightly and get some "character" shots as well - all in all, it was a great morning shooting in a new studio environment.

I've been talking with a new local free paper (The Hub) about some projects - currently it's all a bit hush hush, but we are going to be using Carly as our model.  She's never done modelling before, so to put her nerves at ease, we arranged a small test shoot.

 

Below are just a few frames (including my first attempt with the 10Dir in a studio) and I am sure you will agree not only is she a lovely looking young lady, but for her first time modelling she did great.

 

I was asked by the nice people at Easterbrook Hall if they could use some of my images of their venue in one of the adverts and on their new website (launching in January!)  Of course I said yes!  I am proud as punch that a venue such as this liked my images so much they would use it to show potential couples their venue.

Of course, the bride and groom liking the images - that is still number 1 on the list of highs, but when a venue likes them, that really is a close second.

The advert is going to be on the back cover of a magazine called "D&G Life" and with thanks to Laura at Easterbrook for sending me the file and letting me post it on the blog.

It really is a lovely location.  If you are looking for someplace unique to hold your wedding I recommend this place.  Yes, it may be a little far from Glasgow for some - but staying overnight down there does add an extra air of romance to your wedding.

The marriage of Donna and Michael took place at Colville Park Golf Club in Motherwell.  They had booked me last year and were one of the very first people I had contact me.  The weather was against us this time.  Torrential rain, but that didn't spoil the day.  A lovely service, some great speeches and a lovely group of people.

The timings were looking a little tight for me to cover everything - so I asked Peter Dunn of PJD Photography if he'd be able to help out - which he did and I thank him for being such a gent.

On the 10th of October I was pleased to be the photographer at the wedding of Eleanor and Matthew at the wonderful Chrichton Church in Dumfries.

On the drive down on the day, I found every kind of weather imaginable - and when I eventually got to the venue I couldn't see it for the fog.  Thankfully, within 10 minutes the sun burned through the fog and the weather stayed with us the whole day.

The service was very nice conducted by a very nice minister and despite nerves, everything went to plan.

After much deliberation, I decided to replace my existing main camera with a new one and downgrade my main camera to be a second body.

I settled on Canon's new 5D Mark 2.  All reports being an excellent camera.  When I tried the camera in the shop I knew I had to have it.  However, I was less than impressed when I got this home.  Every test shot, every one - was soft.  Very slightly soft, but soft.

So, I joined the Canon Professional Network and sent the lens back.  It arrived yesterday morning and I had a quick 2 frame test today - and WOW.  The detail that is captured by this camera is amazing.  

I will be arranging some test shoots to get used to the camera, so stay tuned for some images.
